On 03 Dec 2024, Dr Zhang presented an invited talk titled "Precision and smart finishing of functional surfaces" at the 9th International Conference on Nanomanufacturing (nanoMan2024) at Singapore. Mr Wang Chongrui conducted an oral presentation named "Surface Quality Enhancement of Metallic Tubes by A Novel Flocking-Fiber Coated Magnetic Tool" on behalf of Mr Zhang Zhanjie.

On 21 Oct 2024, Ms Xu Wenxin joined the team as a visiting PhD student! Welcome Ms Xu!

On 17 Oct 2024, New paper "Water-induced Surface Ordering Facilitating the Microcutting of Ductile Metals" was published in Journal of Cleaner Production! In this work, we discovered that a thin layer of water on copper's free surface significantly enhances its machinability, and, remarkably, this effect is reversible! We propose a concept of "water-induced surface ordering" to explain the mechanism behind this phenomenon.

On 11 June 2024, Dr Zhang conducted an oral presentation at euspen's 24th International Conference & Exhibition at University College Dublin, Ireland.
